The fact that reality is complex and that two things can be true, but bearing different weights is a struggle for way too many people. While many may deride the value of "higher math" for the general population, in point of fact, it is becoming more and more important for our kids to be educated in critical thinking skills, and that involves at least the basic concepts of statistics and probability. If folks are really going to do "their own research," they should be educated in some basic research skills.

Excellent article!

Even if this diet/lifestyle approach was "the way to go," a population-wide effort to enable people to have more nutritional diets and life styles would require a massive effort requiring eliminating social inequalities that result in poor diets and exercise. I don't hear anyone advocating for that as part of their proposed "solution." In fact, widespread availability, access, and promotion of vaccines does chip away at the social inequalities extant in our nation. Few seem to acknowledge that, either.
