Last week 5 new studies provided a first look into Dobbs v. Jackson’s impact on access to abortion care. This was largely thanks to JAMA Network that published a special issue on this topic. This is the story that data is telling.
Well, well, it looks like the states which were formerly part of the Confederacy which bred people for profit are most hostile to women and their integrity.
A problem in post-Dobbs America for the Democrats is that the demographic they had been cultivating to be a major pillar of their strength, to wit: the Hispanics, have turned out to be far more conservative than the party had guessed and is now split between both Dems and repubs. In matters like abortion rights the Hispanics, both Catholics and evangelicals, seem solidly with the conservatives. Ominous tidings if true.
Hi Katelyn, Thanks so much for your incisive articles on COVID. They really cut to the chase and I appreciate the science. And thanks, too, for taking on women's reproductive issues. I have been concerned about this for decades. (I'm old enough to go back to pre-Roe v Wade days.) The info you included today (stats about young girls) is something I've been talking about a lot the last couple of years. I'm afraid that the people who make the laws have no clues to the challenges of pregnancy.
I work on abortion care, part of which includes an abortion clinic in Georgia. The "heartbeat" laws are an absolute nightmare, but people ARE still getting legal abortions in Georgia, and with the amount of bad information flying around about abortions it's important to not spread more. I really appreciate your work, thank you so much for covering this (fig.) epidemic as well!
Thank you for this important analysis. The health care situation is concerning, to say the least. I am sure that, a year after Dobbs, you are planning to investigate birth rates and changes, adoption and changes? I am interested in that result as well. And thank you as ever for your well written, well considered piece.
Thank you for this report - I can't believe we are going back where we were 45 years ago. I keep working to galvanize my grand girls to work to protect their rights!
A problem in post-Dobbs America for the Democrats is that the demographic they had been cultivating to be a major pillar of their strength, to wit: the Hispanics, have turned out to be far more socially conservative than the party had guessed and is now split between both Dems and repubs. In matters like abortion rights the Hispanics, both Catholics and evangelicals, seem solidly with the conservatives. Ominous tidings if true.

Thanks for the summary. This is all just SO wrong.
Thanks for the information and praying that we vote in the correct individuals that are pro-choice.

While this sounds gratuitous, thanks for another well-written and researched summary. I have to concur on all points.
Makes me sad. That which is aborted....is still a preborn human person no matter how you look at it.

Unclear why abortion deaths of the preborn are celebrated while covid 19 deaths are lamented. Am I missing something?
Because your first point is incorrect.
