The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) and the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine (SMFM)- the two leading organizations for OB clinicians- strongly recommend vaccines for pregnant people.
Amazing article! Thank you so much! Is there any info about vaccine efficacy in pregnant women? I've read several places that with the Delta variant, immunocompromised and the senior population are still at increased risk for infection even if they are vaccinated. Is it the same for pregnant women?
Thank you. Is there any data on breakthrough illness in vaccinated pregnant patients? If a vaccinated pregnant woman gets Covid do they have a better outcome? Thanks.
I know this doesn't have anything to do with this article but I couldn't find a good place for the question. My question is can you write an article that addresses the risk of getting covid, getting hospitalized, and dying vs something like Whooping Cough. My school district still has rules that if my child gets sick then that child and everyone in the house must stay away from school for a minimum of 4 days. But if you live with someone with an active case of covid you can return the next day.
Hi. Have there been any updates to the research on Covid vaccines/boosters during pregnancy? Some of us weren’t pregnant when the vaccines came out, but are now pregnant and eligible for boosters. I’d like to have some evidence that supports the decision to get the booster while pregnant.
Has there been any discussion on a third dose of the vaccine for pregnant women? Currently 20 weeks, received Moderna vaccine very early in first trimester (didn’t yet know I was pregnant!). I have just been taken OUT by what we think is RSV. I’m worried about my immune system’s ability to fight even though I was vaccinated. Scary times for sure.
Any new updates on when shots will be available for kids under 5? I hear they may expedite 5 and up soon. Debating pulling my 4 year old from preschool for the second year in a row.
What about women who received the vaccine months before becoming pregnant? Are there still antibodies that go to the embryo, or is the vaccine only effective in passing along antibodies when vaccinated during pregnancy?
But the big news that I feel like nobody is talking about is the CDC now recommends the vaccine for breastfeeding people! It baffles me that the focus has been solely on pregnancy, when most people breastfeed for longer than they’re pregnant. Do you know why they changed their stance on breastfeeding? Has there been any new research? What was the change based on?
