This is making me so nervous to send my kids to school. I live in North Texas. Kids scheduled to start private where all the right COVID precautions are taken (except I still prefer outdoor masking) but I’m still nervous due to the highly infectious nature of delta.

Thank you so much! This helps keep me from literally crawling up into a ball. Both of mine are vaccinated (so grateful) one school has mask requirement, one not (high school) and I am still so afraid of this virus and I HATE that we are treating our healthcare workers and system like this. If you know anyway that we can directly support our healthcare workers, please let us know. I want them to know that we see them and they are LOVED up!

I'm also in TX - San Antonio. Kids are starting their second week. Our district is doing everything right (universal masking, 90%+ vaccinated staff, weekly testing) but I'm also still anxious. Although at 100% capacity, they aren't able to social distance except at lunch.

Is there any evidence that universal masking in school is still effective against delta?

If you know anyone who is interested in a real-life illustration of masks in school, they should look at San Antonio Independent School District and how it has kept rates low by encouraging masks, compared to neighboring districts, including one elementary school with low mask rates that is currently experiencing an outbreak.

Thank you for all your info. Can you, or any followers, recommend a resource that provides case data and positivity rate by zip codes? I’m in PA and looking for info for my school district.

What are your thoughts on https://www.microcovid.org/ - is it a reasonable model for evaluating day to day risk and calibrating personal protection approach in different conditions ?
