Thank you so much for your contributions. They are a breath of fresh air. Sending 3 back to school in NJ soon. All are vaxed but I was one of the first back in Feb. Concerned about breakthrough from them. No mention of how gym, music or lunch will go. I wouldn’t eat out now!

With FDA approval today and announcement of mandates across multiple large institutions, does this matter in the projections in the next 6 weeks out as we head into flu season or a measure too late? Also, would love your perspective on the WHO ask today for a 2-week moritortium on boosters. Several family members need to get

I forgot an important piece of information. I live in San Mateo County, CA where we seem to be plateauing in our case numbers which are already quite modest so hopefully the relative risk of my children one 14 fully vaccinated and one 3 years old in a school doing weekly mandatory testing will be lower risk factors a few weeks into Sept. hopefully.

Thanks so much for your posts. They are so helpful. My mother is undergoing chemotherapy. She is set to get her booster on Aug. 31st. Is there any evidence of how long after a 3rd booster her antibody levels will theoretically increase? I will be using that date to determine when I can more optimally send my kids back to in-person learning. Thanks again!!!!!

Can you address what we know about breakthrough infections and vaccinated adolescents. For example, as we send our vaccinated teens back to school--how worried should we be? I see from the CDC that most hospitalizations from breakthrough cases are for over 65 year olds. Is there any info on how protected teens are given their response to the vaccine was supposedly very robust (especially in 12 year olds, etc.)

New case rate vs. TPR. If a case is defined by a positive test, then vaxxed not getting tested can't contribute to rise in case rate. It might be definition of terms, though. In GA, they don't count positive antigen tests as cases. (You can see them on state dashboard, though). In my county, case rate and TPR are flat/declining but when you add in antigen, not as pretty. Maybe they believe most positive antigens are followed up with a PCR?

Thank you. It sucks when our state starts to make your updates (Washington) 😕, but I'm thankful for the information and that we can respond accordingly. In our household 3/5 of us are vaccinated, with only the twin 6 year olds not yet of course. Our social circle is small, and like-minded (anyone who can be vaccinated is, everyone's masking indoors, limiting outings, we spend time together almost exclusively outside etc). We've mostly been allowing outside play unmasked, and when school resumes next week the mandates are masking inside (our kids will be wearing kf94's), but masks are not required outside during recess. I'd appreciate an update on your assessment and guidance about masking outdoors while playing normally. Our six year olds have always masked with our friends who are high risk, or if with friends who's risk perspective is different than ours, and indoors. Should we have our unvaccinated kids resume masking outdoors in general? Particularly in less controlled (by us) settings such as school?
