The United States’ case rate has begun to plateau. On a global scale, Europe has a sharp incline in cases. For once, though, the incline isn’t due to the UK but rather everyone else (Ireland, Greece, Denmark, Germany, Norway, Russia). This is not welcome news going into the winter months. Last year, before our biggest wave yet, cases started to increase in late October 2020. Obviously the landscape has changed thanks to vaccines, but we still have a large proportion of a vulnerable Americans: 5.5 million are immunocompromised and
Please be right about all kids. My daughter has been praying every day for her vaccine. I was able to schedule her for Thursday pending approval. I burst into tears when I got it scheduled. I just want the terror to go away.
My name is Alan, I'm from Singapore! 🇸🇬 Nice to meet your 😊 I've just signed up for your newsletter and I even subscribe to become a member! 🙂 I hope to learn a lot more from you in the coming weeks and months ahead! ❤
You were awesome yesterday! I realized afterwards why your voice was so familiar! I had seen you with Emily Oster on a webinar on 9/28! So glad to be following you now and getting these helpful newsletters! Thanks Katelyn!
I am glad to see some cautious opening of borders. I know so many people with relatives in Canada who have been waiting for this day. We have so many citizens coming in and out of the country anyway, and the main issues are with our internal population.
This is such a helpful update! I've been wondering: do we have any more data about how likely it is for a vaccinated person to get long covid from a breakthrough infection? I would love to see another long covid update sometime soon if you have info to share! Once my kids are vaccinated (*crossing fingers*) that's going to be my #1 concern about doing more activities than we have been.
If we could get the vaccine rate up high enough, we could tamp down future waves. But I think that ship has sailed. There are just too many hard "no" folk around. So the rest of us will remain at increased risk and inconvenienced for a while longer - at least until enough of the hard "no" folk become convalescent.
Also, it's becoming increasingly clear that indoor air is the problem - particularly people's homes - which generally have abysmal ventilation. I'm worried about Thanksgiving and Christmas again this year. Corsi-Rosenthal boxes for early holiday gifts, perhaps?
