Right before I hit send, my phone buzzed with some amazing breaking news!! Pfizer just announced promising results for the pediatric (5-11 years) vaccine and will submit their EUA application soon. A pediatric vaccine should come by Halloween!!! Haven’t had time to process the data yet…will of course fill you in with a post. But I’m just so excited. This pandemic will, in fact, end.
My 11-year-old asks often if it’s ready for her. And was mad our zoo is vaccinating animals before she can get it. “You mean if I were a tiger I could get vaccinated??”
Given the data thats coming out suggesting that moderna has improved long term efficacy compared to Pfizer do you think there is an argument for waiting even if Pfizer comes out first?
My 11 year old is within 6 months of turning 12. If the vaccines are approved in late fall, she will receive one third of the dose that she would just a few short months later. How much of a difference will that likely make in the big picture for her immune response and duration of protection? My 4 year old will likely be in the same boat by the time the under 5 group is approved. I'm certainly NOT going to wait to get them over the age line if one is available, but I wonder if the timing sets them up for less-than-ideal antibody responses. Thank you!
I am surprised that the percentage of people who know someone who has been hospitalized or died from COVID isn't higher. I am a white, well-off, white-collar woman in the Northeast, and I know several. Maybe it is skewed by young people?
Hello Dr Jetelina! Very exiting news for me having a 6&7 year old.
Questions: EUA will be granted by Halloween, correct? Not full approval.
Also, how does the general public obtain Pfizer 5-11 clinical trial results? As I understand it, they are still on trial 2/3, and publication for peer review won't be available till clinical trials 3 are complete? how do I obtain access to Pfizer data used to grant EUA?
I'm not sure you've addressed this topic or not since I'm new but would like to hear your thoughts on this.
It makes sense to me that natural immunity would be better an do wonder why these people would have to still get the vaccine and if it puts them at risk to do so?httpss://www.clarkcountytoday.com/opinion/opinion-why-arent-we-celebrating-the-naturally-immune/

Do you know what is going on with Moderna’s pediatric trials? I thought they started at about the same time that Pfizer started theirs.
