Well, this newsletter seems to be growing as quickly as Delta is spreading. Welcome to all newbies! I have a few housekeeping items/reminders for everyone… During the day, I’m an epidemiologist. While I have my own research lab and teach, I’ve found myself advising policy makers, talking to national and international media, and helping a lot with on the ground COVID-19 stuff. I’m also a mom of two little ones. Once they’re asleep, I write these posts.
Thank you for everything ❤️❤️Super mom, wife and epidemiologist. It’s a LOT and we get it. So a super extra “thank you” from all of us out here hobbling every data point🙏🏼💛
I echo others in dating how much I appreciate all you do. Everything you always send out to us - *whenever* you send it out - has been extremely relevant and valuable. But your first priority is to care for yourself and your family. That is (or should be) true for us all, especially if we have learned anything from this past year. Thank you for all you do!
Thank you for your efforts. Really. I'm a scientist and a dad of toddlers and have had COVID-related projects. I never expect this to be a daily newsletter and extra appreciate it when something important happens because you help cement my messaging to my community. This isn't you job, and I adore you for sharing your expertise.
Many thanks! You are a fantastIc and much-appreciated source. Since you prompted for questions - I am wondering about testing. Are home tests you can buy at Walgreens etc. accurate enough to be worth it? Considering Delta, what would a recommended testing schedule for visiting grandparents across the country? Maybe hard to say, given variation in test availability and wait time for results, but thought I’d put the question out there. Goodnight! (Hope your kids sleep straight through!)
We are so grateful for you and all of your work. I am a small business owner, and have found your information to be so helpful in managing during this pandemic.
Happy to subscribe to keep your fine work available to all. We understand all you are up against. It only makes us appreciate you MORE! Be at peace and press on.
You are doing an amazing job with your posts. Up to date, relevant and concise. I read it everyday it comes out. My spouce also subscribed to show her support. She reads widely while I listen to podcasts. We hear from physicians at TCH as well as John’s Hopkins but you are my favorite news feed. Thanks for the extra effort at all levels.
One suggestion. Rather than referring to the “unvaccinated” I use the phrase “yet to be vaccinated” which is more hopeful.
Oops. I used more than one paragraph but I’m teachable
Keep up the good work…totally appreciate your amazing work! As a former UTSPH MPH in Epi, I honestly look to you for your sound advice and share with many others!
I read two editions of your newsletter and subbed. It’s awesome. And I thank you for distilling the data and the frequent updates.
I have not seen a typo. If I do, I promise not to be offended.
As for the infant, s/he is more important than us. So enjoy the time when you can.
As for the obnoxious people. Sorry. They suck.
Keep up the great work and thank you!!

Is there any new data on delta and outdoor exposure? I have young kids and their school will have them eat outdoors but how
Do you feel about kids and eating/ chatting about a foot away unmasked?
