One thing all of us that are not medical professionals will need is for you to tell us when a position, conclusion, or recommendation is suspect and not based in facts or evidence. Right now the administration is starting to strangle off the flow of publicly available data and begin to replace it with propaganda. That will work for a while but then they will try and substantiate the propaganda with questionable data and data sources.

YLE has been exemplary in calling out questionable health data.. Those skills will be put to the test. We are are all pulling for you...our health, and even our lives, may depend on it

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I love the fact that in the midst of this chaos you stopped and took the time to think deeply about exactly what you want to provide (and, consequently, what we need). So scary to watch objective information disappearing -- I purchased a subscription to your Substack today. With enormous gratitude... ❤️

Following on Austin's comment... Yle, early in the pandemic when the was no central collection of data on

Infection levels, volunteers collected info from localities and aggregated it. I believe you were central to the effort. Does that system need to be reimplimented? Perhaps w crowd funding support? I hope you can address that in a future piece and update us on needs. (Yes it would only cover blue states, but perhaps better than nothing and we seem to be at nothing). I thought I could find the radio show on this effort but can't. Maybe someone else has it at hand. Thank you for all you do yle.

As a fellow epidemiologist, how can I help you and fellow public health personnel? How can we band together to retain what we can to best help the health of the public?

Susan, Katelyn and others,

I also write on Substack and would be happy to collaborate. My background is in immunology but I write about general principles of regaining and maintaining health.

I read this honestly with tears in my eyes. YLE, I'm so grateful to you. You kept me going throughout the absolute terror and unknown of the pandemic and became a cool breeze of reason when it seemed like everyone else was shouting about being a "pureblood" and vaccine hesitancy. Although I wish beyond wish that the future of public health was more certain than it is right now, I'm happy to say you're the biggest blessing to come out of absolute chaos. Also agree with Nita - let's just clone you into every single area of expertise across the universe.

Can we clone you, but in every area of expertise across the Universe? Thank you so much. You really are keeping us sane. I do hope you're able to take good care of yourself through this. It seems these guidelines will help you cope as well. Big hugs from a random stranger/huge fan.

Check out the World Health Network which can use you interest and technical skills to continue its ongoing challenges to scientific inferiorities promoted ( ie. deviating from data driven public health guidance) by WHO and the CDC in order to promote public welfare. Examples include recognizing aerosol spread of COVID, the value of respirators, especially in healthcare facilities, and new facility ventilation standards.

Thank you for taking the time to formulate such logical and helpful guidelines. Your comment about taking time to look at the whole picture, rather than react impulsively is especially valuable. We need to have sources we can trust.] From a long time reader.

I am very glad that I found this newsletter back in pandemic times, and I don't even remember how I did. Yours is a voice that I trust, and that will be needed now, perhaps more than ever.

To say “thank you” doesn’t seem enough. I can read through the lines in many areas of news, but personally, I do not have the expertise in the field of medicine and health. So your insight has been and will continue to be a god-send. Your insight is invaluable and of course you were able to create guidelines that will help us through these next 4 years and beyond. So, I humbly say, “thank you for the entire team at YLE”.

Retired MD pathologist here. You have my admiration and wholehearted support. I have relied on CDC data for forty years. Seems strange to be cut off from this life giving info. We must rely on each other.

Thank you. We will follow no shiney objects and there will be and are many. Ezra Klein today has a good podcast "Don't Be Afraid of Him"....it was good.
